Verse 20- The flash of light has almost glared away their vision; as often as light flashes for them they walk therein, and when it darkens against them due to passing out of flash of light then they stand confounded: if God so Willed, He could certainly take away their hearing with thunderclap and could take away their eyesight with thunderbolt then they would had become dumb and blind: undoubtedly God is Almighty. In these verses of the Scriptures the allegory for the enemies at heart has been declared as of those people who at a dark night in a jungle are collected around by rainfall, thunder and lightening and they thrust fingers in their ears for the sound of thunderclap, they become unable to find a walk in darkness and as often as light flashes on them they walk a few steps and when flash of light passes out then they stand confounded. The allegory of rainfall is the Muslim Faith. As the fields turn green and fresh by a rainfall, the mind is revived and rejoiced in the same manner by the Muslim Faith and obtain certainty of life through believing; allegory of the dark night and of cloudiness are for the sufferings and the struggle in religion such as fighting for the cause of God against their beloved disbelievers and allegory of thunderclap is of being killed in war and spending of money and allegory of thunderbolt is of coming to hand of booty and victory of the Muslims. The enemies at heart who had apparently accepted the Muslim Faith when they were commanded to banish and kill the disbelievers then they used to thrust fingers in their ears for not to listen to the Holy Word of God, and when obtained victory and booty came to their hand then they praised the religion ,“The Muslim Faith is excellent”, but when set out for war against the disbelievers then they used to halt and did not wish to go for fighting and at that time they defamed and blamed the religion. Gain. That is to say that the enemies at heart at times used to be happy and at times used to be unhappy.
Advantage. From the first up to this place of the chapter have been stated three kinds of people: first (1) the believers, afterwards (2) the disbelievers who have been turned conscious less, therefore, they shall never believe, third (3) the affairs of enemies at heart who apparently were Muslims but at their hearts they were not on either side.
